A West Texas Pipeliner Got Tired of Bad Gloves.

That's the whole story, really.

I spent years as a rig welder and pipeliner out in West Texas. Hard work, long days, and a constant frustration with gloves that were never quite right. Too thick and you couldn't feel your work. Too thin and they'd fall apart before the job was done. Nothing on the market was built for the way I actually welded.

So I built my own.

Slickman started with one simple goal: a glove you could actually feel your work in. Dexterous enough to run a clean bead, tough enough to hold up on the job. Designed by a welder, for welders — because nobody else was going to get it right.

While I was in the field, I was also building something else — a community. I started teaching the trade on social media, sharing what I knew about pipeline welding, technique, and the craft. That community grew, and with it came the platform to do something bigger.

When it was time to launch Slickman, I didn't need a marketing agency. I had thousands of welders who already trusted me — people who'd watched me work, learned from my content, and knew I wasn't going to put my name on something that didn't hold up. Our flagship glove, the 820 Plus, was developed right there in the open — shaped by real feedback from real welders on TikTok. That's not a gimmick. That's just how we do things.
